Thecus® N4200 NAS Server
Tæt fulgt af intels nyeste ATOM lancering for ganske få uger siden, sker der noget på en helt anden front hvor ATOM processoren har vundet stort indpas. NAS serverne som siden starten af 2009 begyndte at trække på den stærke low power processor set i forhold til tidligere NAS teknologier som kørte på diverse små chips. Ved skiftet over til ATOM processoren og typisk 1GB RAM, så var der lagt i ovnen til ekstra performance og muligheder.
Den nye D510 ATOM processor er kært velkommen for den tilbyder endnu mere performance i forhold til den tidligere ATOM processor, samtidig med at den sænker strømforbruget endnu mere. Dette er optimale forhold for netop NAS serverne der er tiltænkt at køre 24/7 hos de fleste.
QNAP var meget hurtige til at annoncere deres TS-459Pro med netop denne ATOM D510 processor, men nu her godt 1½ uge senere kommer Thecus med deres N4200 NAS som er baseret på præcis samme ATOM processor.
Men sammen med den nye processor så har Thecus gjort deres for at skabe en NAS server der skaber opmærksomhed i forhold til markedet, hvor faktorer som 2.8″ OLED display der giver mulighed for at rette forskellige indstillinger direkte på NAS serveren.
Derudover understøttes SATA og eSATA via ATOM bundkortet og Thecus har udstyret NAS serveren med 1 x PCI-X port til opgradering af USB til f.eks. USB 3.0..

Of course, the N4200 is incredibly adept at both storing and securing data. Four SATA II hard disk bays offer up to 8TB of storage capacity, which is plenty of space for all sorts of digital photos, movies, and music. To keep data safe, the N4200 comes with multiple RAID modes, including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and JBOD. The N4200 is equipped with Dual DOM technology, which uses a secondary DOM to reprogram the primary DOM in the event of a failure, and ensures maximum uptime and data availability. The N4200 can even handle itself during a power outage, thanks to the built-in battery backup module (BBM). Should the power go out for any reason, the N4200 automatically retains unwritten data in hard drives to maintain data integrity.
